Inspection Procedure of Boiler for Registration under Boilers Act, 1923

Steps Procedure Remarks

Step 1

Boiler owner shall Submit application with relevant documents to the Inspector or competent person (Third Party) for registration of boiler. Visit www.rajfab.rajasthan.gov.in Boiler owner may choose any inspector or Competent Person (Third Party) in the State for inspection of his/her boiler during submission of application.
Step 2 In case of packaged boiler (Case A)
  • Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall inform date of inspection to owner.
  • The Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall visit the site to inspect boiler, boiler components, mountings and fittings along with relevant certificates and test reports to verify as per checklist shown below.
  • Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall witness hydraulic test.
  • Boiler and Steam Pipe Line shall be hydraulically tested to 1½ times of the maximum working pressure.
  • Inspector/Competent person prepare inspection report at site and hand over a copy to the owner or his representative.
In case of erection of boiler at site (Case B)
  • Owner of Boiler may ask for stage inspection after the material is received at site/completion of part erection.
  • The Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall visit the site to inspect boiler, boiler components, mountings and fittings along with relevant certificates and test reports to verify as per checklist shown below.
  • Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall witness hydraulic test during various stages/after compete erection of boiler as required.
  • Boiler and Steam Pipe Line shall be hydraulically tested to 1½ times of the maximum working pressure.
  • Inspector/Competent person prepare inspection report at site and hand over a copy to the owner or his representative.
Physical Inspection at site carries out by the Inspector/Competent person (Third Party).
Documents to be kept ready for inspection-
  • Form No. II or Form No. XVII
  • Form No. III
  • Form No. IIIA, IIIB, III C
  • Form No. IV or IV A
  • Drawings
  • Dispatch notes (in case above forms not received
  • Certificate of welders
  • Certificate of Boiler Attendant/Boiler Operation Engineer
  • Test reports of welding
All welding work shall be carried out by a certified welder.
Step 3 Boiler owner has to produce to the Inspector/Competent person (Third Party)all documents and test reports related to boiler, boiler components, mountings, fittings and steam pipeline before final hydraulic test.
Step 4 After inspection Inspector/Competent person shall prepare Boiler and steam pipe line inspection reports and submit inspection reports along with all documents and test reports to Chief Inspector of Factories & Boilers to register the boiler within 30 days.
Inspection Procedure of Boiler for Renewal under Boilers Act, 1923
Steps Procedure Remarks
Step 1 Boiler owner may choose any inspector or Competent Person (Third Party) in the State for inspection of his/her boiler during submission of application.
Step 2
  • Inspector/Competent person informs date of inspection and hydraulic test to owner.
Owner shall prepare the boiler for inspection.
Step 3
  • Open inspection: Inspector/Competent person shall inspect the boiler as per checklist
  • If the condition of the boiler is not satisfactory at the time of open inspection and any part or components of boiler found damaged during inspection.
  • In case of boiler got repaired Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) shall verify details of repair.
  • Boiler shall be inspected and hydraulically tested to 1.25 times (or 1.5 times in case of major repair) of the maximum working pressure.
  • Inspector/Competent person (Third Party) prepares inspection report at site and hand over a copy to the owner or his representative.

All welding work shall be carried out by a certified welder.
